After the big hailstorm of 2011 we learned that the requirements for insurance on members’ secured loans (auto, boat, RV, motorcycle etc.) were falling through the cracks and some policies were not in place, insufficient or failed to list the credit union as lien holder. But, we hate the typical forced placed insurance products out there in the market that cost a fortune and greatly increase loan payments so we set out to find a better option. We think we found it and we began putting it in place April 2013. It will entail a monthly premium of $65 (added to your loan) for those policies that exhibit the above insufficiencies.
You may receive a notice of such a deficiency even if your policy conforms – the problem being we don’t have this information in your file or it is not current. So if you receive a notice please call the insurance center listed in the notice and they will be happy to assist you!
